"Intelligence plus character; this is the true goal of education." -Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Mrs. Griffiths and I are not only the 2018-2019 1st Grade Squad at Newport, we are also good friends. Having a great partner teacher is such a joy, and often times we create activities and learning opportunities for the students from both of our classes to work together and learn from each other.
Meet Miss Ruesch
Hi! My name is Jennifer Ruesch; I am delighted to be your child's 1st grade teacher! This is my fourth year teaching 1st grade, after previously teaching three years in Kindergarten and one year as a K/1st teacher. This is my eighth year at Newport School. Overall, I have been with the district ten years. :) My educational philosophy, and the goal in which I approach my students every day can be summed up in this quote by William Arthur Ward, "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." My hope is that each student will walk away from my classroom inspired, encouraged, successful, and challenged...ready for the next step in their educational journey and with an excitement for learning! Along with a love for learning, I want each of my students to know that they are infinitely loved and appreciated by me.
I received my Bachelors Degree in Christian Education from Trinity Christian College, and my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Aurora University.
When I'm not teaching, I am outdoors...biking, fishing, kayaking, etc. I enjoy spending time with my family; especially my 7 year-old niece, and my 5 year-old nephew! I like to read, volunteer with my local fire department on their emergency response team, watch baseball (go Red Sox!), and try fun and exciting adventures. One of my favorite adventures to date was parasailing over the Atlantic Ocean.
